70% of e-commerce carts are abandoned (Baymard Institute). Email flows recover 3-8% of them (Klaviyo benchmarks). WhatsApp with 95%+ open rate can lift that to 12-25%. See exactly what the difference means for your store's annual revenue.

How to read this calculator
Where does 70% cart-abandonment number come from?
The
Baymard Institute tracks cart-abandonment industry-wide as an ongoing benchmark — 70.2% average across desktop and mobile as of their most recent multi-study meta-analysis. This calculator does not use that number directly (you input your own monthly abandoned carts), but it's the baseline that makes recovery-rate math worth doing at all.
Why is the WhatsApp recovery rate 3x the email rate?
Two multiplicative effects. First, WhatsApp opens at 95%+ within one hour of send (Meta Business benchmarks) versus 20-25% for email — a 4x open-rate gap. Second, per-open conversion is roughly similar because reading a WhatsApp message about your abandoned cart carries the same intent signal as reading an email. Combined: WhatsApp recovery rate ~3x email. Well-optimised WhatsApp flows in high-WhatsApp markets (Brazil, India, Nigeria) can push closer to 25%.
Does WhatsApp cart-recovery hurt my email flows?
No — email and WhatsApp are complementary, not substitutive. Best practice: WhatsApp fires first (~30 min after abandonment when intent is highest), email fires as a follow-up 24 hours later for customers who did not respond via WhatsApp. Klaviyo can trigger the email based on WhatsApp non-response signal. Both flows continue delivering value.
Will WhatsApp Business API cost eat into my recovery gains?
WhatsApp charges roughly $0.025 per marketing conversation in the US (per-conversation, not per-message, since Meta's November 2024 change). At a $72 average cart value, one recovered cart pays for hundreds of send attempts. The cost-to-benefit ratio for cart-recovery is one of the strongest in the WhatsApp Business API playbook. Does BossBot integrate with Shopify?
Yes — direct Shopify integration via native app. WooCommerce works via per-store consumer_key/secret. MercadoLibre currently in beta pending platform approval. Etsy is skeleton status (no live customers yet). See the honest integration status page at bossbot.uk/for-humans for the whole picture.
Is this calculator saving my data?
No. Math runs in your browser — no data leaves your device until you explicitly submit your email above.
