How to connect your Shopify store

Open your Shopify Admin

Go to your Shopify store's admin panel. The URL looks like your-store.myshopify.com/admin

Go to Settings → Apps and sales channels

Click Settings in the bottom-left sidebar, then choose Apps and sales channels.

Create a Custom App

Click "Develop apps" button in the top-right, then click "Create an app". Name it BossBot.

Set API permissions

Inside your new app, click "Configure Admin API scopes". Enable these 3 permissions and click Save:

Why only read permissions?

BossBot only reads your orders and customers — it never writes, modifies, or deletes anything in your store. You stay in full control.

Install the app & copy your tokens

Click "Install app". Then go to the API credentials tab. You need to copy two things:

The Admin API access token is shown only once. Copy it before closing the page — you cannot retrieve it later. If you lose it, you'll need to reinstall the app and get a new token.

Paste into BossBot Settings

In your BossBot dashboard, go to Settings → Shopify Stores → Add Shopify Store. Enter your store domain and paste both tokens:

FAQ

How many Shopify stores can I connect?

Does BossBot see my Shopify admin password?
No. The Admin API access token only has read permissions for orders, customers, and products. BossBot cannot change prices, edit products, or access your billing.
What if I lose the access token?
Shopify shows the token only once. If you lose it — go to your Custom App → API credentials → Reinstall app to generate a new token. Then reconnect in BossBot Settings.
Is the Client Secret required?
Optional but strongly recommended. Without it, BossBot can still fetch orders — but order notification webhooks (instant buyer alerts) won't have signature verification. Add it to ensure webhook security.
Do I need the Shopify Partner program?
No. You use Custom Apps in your own Shopify Admin — no Partner account needed. Custom Apps are free and available on all Shopify plans.
Will buyers get WhatsApp messages automatically?
Yes — for buyers whose phone number is saved in Shopify and matches a WhatsApp account. BossBot sends an order confirmation the moment an order is created or paid.
